The B-Movie Podcast: Star Wars-ish Wack-a-Doo – Jupiter Ascending (3D)

A long time ago, in a Drive-In not so far Away…

STAR WARS-ISH

Welcome to our Month long series of Star Wars inspired/ripped off films!  That’s right Ladies and Gents, in honor of Star Wars: The Last Jedi we got a month of double features, special guest and more!!!  We kick off the month with Wack-a-Doo taking a gander at the crazier entries of films that owe much to Star Wars. First up; The Wachowski’s Jupiter Ascending (in 3D)!

We here at the B-Movie podcast forgive any B-Movie Geek that skipped out on Jupiter Ascending for whatever reason.  Now, is time to correct that.  The Wachowski have created a love letter to Science Fiction and Fantasy adventure in the vien of Star Wars and Wizard of Oz with Jupiter Ascending.  It’s big.  It’s goofy.  It’s bold.  It’s fun.  It’s brilliant.  It’s epically weird.  The film owes as much to Star Wars and Wizard of Oz as it does to the work of Terry Gilliam and Alejandro Jodorowsky.  It’s everything that you’d want it a truly great B-Movie.  Don’t listen to those that will tell you that the film is worthless.  We know better.  Only the Wachowski’s could give Eddie Redmayne a role that I can only describe as “delicious”.  Only the Wachowski’s would give Terry Gilliam a cameo as a man that could only be described as from Planet Brazil (you’ll get it once you see it).  Most of all only the Wachowski’s could create a film where a maid finds out that she’s the Queen of the Galaxy.  Jupiter Ascending is as unique a big budget sci-fi film we will ever get.
