The B-Movie Podcast: Marshall-ing On – Eight Below (2006)

As a Director Frank Marshall has always done some great work with true adventure films.  Marshall seems to be affected by the work of Jack London more so than any other director of his generation.  In fact I’m shocked the man has not directed a Jack London adaptation.  Eight Below seems like his director homage to the stories that London produced with great aplomb.  The film tells the story of an Antarctic research team that unexpectedly has to leave a team of eight Huskies behind and the journey of the Huskies and their Guide (played by the late Paul Walker in one of his best performances).  Eight Below is an emotionally thrilling and beautifully crafted story of high adventure, the bonds of friendship between dogs and their humans.
